This recipe is proof you do not always need fresh ingredients to attain a delicious flavor. Because this salsa verde has majorly Mendocino Spices, the flavors of chipotle and cumin are pungent and forward. The first flavor of every bite is going to be lead with chipotle, which offers a strong, smoky profile followed by cumin and salty lime. If you are looking for a saltier and spicier salsa verde, I recommend you cut your Ground Chile Chipotle measurement in half. Both variations are a great addition to any taco or quesadilla you’ll be eating. The best part about this recipe is that it’s foolproof, and you’ll have homemade salsa verde ready to eat in under 20 minutes. Mendocino Spices make it that easy!
16 oz tomatillos
1 fresh serrano
2 tsp Mendocino Spices Garlic Salt
2 tsp Mendocino Spices Granulated Onion
½ tsp Mendocino Spices Ground Cumin
½ tsp Mendocino Spices Ground Chile Chipotle
1 tsp Mendocino Spices Whole Cilantro
½ tsp Pepitos Chilitos Chile & Lime seasoning
½ tsp kosher salt
In a large skillet over high heat, blister the tomatillos and serrano pepper, constantly turning until char marks begin to form. Keep turning until tomatillos and serrano is charred all over. Remove from heat.
Cut off the stem of the serrano. Place charred tomatillos, charred serrano, and Mendocino Spices and salt in a food processor. Blend/pulse until all ingredients are finely chopped and mixed through.
Enjoy with your favorite tacos or tortilla chips!
