1 cup all-purpose flour
8 ½ tbsp cold butter
¼ cup cold water
1 egg, beaten
3 oz Gruyere cheese
2 tbsp Mendocino Spices Ranch Salad Dressing Mix
½ tsp Mendocino Spices Cracked Black Pepper
– Add the cheese to a food processor. Pulse until coarsely ground.
– Add the flour and pulse until the mixture looks like a thick sand. About 40 seconds.
– Add half the cold butter then pulse. Add the other half of the butter and Mendocino Spices.
– Gradually add the water and pulse until dough comes together.
– Chill for at least 1 ½ hours or overnight.
– Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
– Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface, to ½ cm thick. Cut into small rectangles, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
– Brush shortbreads with egg wash and freshly grated Gruyere or Parmesan. Bake for 12-14 minutes, serve warm and top with additional Mendocino Spices Ranch Salad Dressing Mix!
